TL;DR A Palantir AIP Bootcamp is a hands-on session, usually 1 to 5 days, where your team builds working AI workflows on your own data with Palantir engineers. It replaced months-long pilots as Palantir’s main commercial sales motion in late 2023. Bootcamps produce prototypes, not production systems. The teams that get the most out of them arrive with one decision, clean access to the right data, and an owner. Our AIP solutions work picks up where they leave off.
A Palantir AIP Bootcamp is a 1 to 5 day hands-on session where a company’s own team builds working AI workflows on its own data, guided by Palantir or partner engineers, using Foundry, the Ontology, and AIP.
Most enterprise software sales start with slides. Palantir’s start with your data.
That’s the whole idea behind the AIP Bootcamp. On Palantir’s Q3 2023 earnings call, the company said it had reoriented its go-to-market approach around bootcamps that deliver real workflows on actual customer data in five days or less, compared with pilots that used to run one to three months. Three years later it’s still how many companies first touch Palantir AIP.
So what actually happens in the room? Who should go, what should you bring, and what do you have on Monday morning after it ends? That’s what this guide covers. One disclosure first. PAL4C Labs doesn’t run official AIP Bootcamps. Palantir and its authorized partners do. We help teams prepare for them and turn what they build into something that survives contact with production.
What Is a Palantir AIP Bootcamp?
It’s a short, hands-on build session, typically one to five days, where your people work alongside Palantir engineers to build AI use cases on your real data. The goal is a working prototype tied to a real decision, not a demo.
On that same 2023 call, Palantir’s CTO Shyam Sankar said the company had shifted its entire commercial organization to focus on one to five day customer bootcamps, and that customers leave with use cases that are production ready. CEO Alex Karp put it more bluntly, describing a move from pilots that took six months to bootcamps that take about two days. He said he’d sat in one that took six hours.
Palantir’s reseller Carahsoft describes the format as demos, hands-on-keyboard sessions, and group discussions designed to build AI intuition and develop practical use cases, with sessions held globally.
| Traditional enterprise pilot | AIP Bootcamp | |
|---|---|---|
| Length | 1 to 3 months, often longer | 1 to 5 days |
| Data | Sample or synthetic, set up over weeks | Your real data, connected for the session |
| Who builds | The vendor, mostly | Your team, hands on keyboard, with Palantir engineers |
| Output | A report and a demo | A working workflow on the Ontology |
| Decision point | End of the pilot | Often within days |

Why Did Palantir Bet Its Sales Model on Bootcamps?
Because they sold faster than pilots. Palantir set a goal of 500 bootcamps in a year, passed 560 within months, and tied several large deals directly to bootcamps. US commercial revenue has grown fast every year since.
The numbers Palantir shared on calls tell the story.
- On the Q4 2023 call in February 2024, the company said it had set a goal in October of 500 bootcamps within a year and had already completed more than 560 across 465 organizations.
- That same call described a cable TV provider that signed a deal of nearly $3 million after a cold LinkedIn message led to a five-day bootcamp.
- Sankar cited a two-day bootcamp with a construction and engineering firm that produced a use case worth $10 million in savings.
- By the Q1 2024 call, more than 915 organizations had taken part, and a utility signed a seven-figure deal five days after its bootcamp.
Then look at revenue. Palantir’s Q4 2023 earnings release reported US commercial revenue of $131 million for the quarter, up 70% year over year, from 221 US commercial customers. By Q2 2026, US commercial revenue reached $764 million for the quarter, up 149% year over year.
Bootcamps aren’t the only reason for that growth. AIP itself, the Ontology, and a hot AI market all played a part. But the sales motion clearly worked.
Karp himself added a caution worth remembering. On the Q1 2024 call he called bootcamps an early motion and said Palantir didn’t think it had cracked the sales motion. Honest. And useful context for anyone expecting a bootcamp to solve everything.
What Happens During an AIP Bootcamp?
Palantir doesn’t publish a fixed agenda, and sessions vary by company and use case. Most follow the same arc. Connect data, model it in the Ontology, build an AI workflow on top, put it in front of users, and agree on what comes next.
Here’s the shape we’d expect for a five-day session, based on how Palantir has described bootcamps publicly and what we see when we help teams prepare. Shorter sessions compress it.
| Stage | What happens | What your team does |
|---|---|---|
| Day 1, Connect | Source data is connected and the target decision is pinned down | Data owners unblock access, business owner confirms the decision |
| Day 2, Model | Key objects, links, and Actions are set up in the Ontology | Subject experts check that the objects match how the business really works |
| Day 3, Build | AIP Logic functions, agents, and a Workshop screen take shape | Builders get hands on keyboard, users react to early versions |
| Day 4, Test | Real cases run through the workflow, edge cases surface | Operators try to break it, the team fixes what they find |
| Day 5, Decide | Results shown to sponsors, next steps agreed | Sponsor decides on scope, owner, and timeline |
The tools are the usual AIP set. The Ontology, AIP Logic and AIP Chatbot Studio for the AI layer, and Workshop for the screen users touch. An early attendee summary from the Daily Palantir newsletter in December 2023 described hands-on work with the attendee’s own company data inside the standard AIP product, with little coding required.
The pace is fast. Palantir said on its Q4 2023 call that new use cases can be built on an existing Ontology in as little as 24 hours. That’s real, and it’s also the catch. Speed in a bootcamp often comes from a narrow slice of clean, hand-picked data.

How Should You Prepare for an AIP Bootcamp?
Pick one decision worth money, get data access approved before day one, bring the people who make that decision, and name an owner for what happens after. Teams that skip prep spend half the bootcamp waiting on credentials.
Our prep checklist, roughly in the order things go wrong.
- Choose one decision, not a theme. Which late orders to expedite today. Which claims to review first. Not improve supply chain with AI.
- Put a number on it. Hours saved, dollars at risk, cases cleared per day. You’ll need it on day five.
- List the source systems for that decision and request access now. Security reviews and service accounts take longer than the bootcamp.
- Bring a data owner who can say yes. One person who can unblock a table in an hour beats three who need to ask someone.
- Bring two or three people who make the decision every day. Their reactions on day three are worth more than any slide.
- Bring IT and security early. Palantir noted that bootcamps pulled IT stakeholders into the room, which is exactly where you want them.
- Practice beforehand. Palantir offers a free AIP Developer Tier, which a Palantir representative on the Community forum confirmed is completely free, so builders can learn the tools before the clock starts.
- Name the owner for week two. Somebody whose job it is to carry the prototype forward.
Item 3 is the one we’d underline. In our experience, data access is the single most common reason a bootcamp produces less than it could. Ask on Monday, not on the Friday before.

Who Should Attend, and Do You Need to Code?
Bring a business owner with budget, two or three daily users of the decision, a data owner, and one or two technical builders. Coding helps but isn’t required, since most bootcamp work happens in low-code AIP and Workshop tools.
Who shouldn’t be there? People sent to observe. A bootcamp is a working session, and spectators slow it down.
Palantir has run bootcamp variations for different audiences. Sankar described builder bootcamps for the US government in 2024, and on the Q3 2023 call Palantir mentioned multi-organization bootcamps where several companies attend together. In 2026 it launched Sovereignty Bootcamps, and a company release in August said the first two sessions, starting July 27, drew nearly 200 organizations in under 30 days.
Our rough guide on team size. Six to eight people from your side is plenty. More than twelve and the conversations start happening in the hallway instead of at the keyboard.
What Do You Walk Away With?
A working prototype on your own data, a clearer sense of what AIP can and can’t do for you, and usually a commercial proposal. You don’t walk away with a production system, and treating the prototype as one is the most common mistake we see.
Palantir’s executives have said bootcamps produce production-ready use cases. In the narrow sense, that’s fair. The workflow runs on real data and real users can try it.
But production means more than that. It means every source connected, not the clean slice. Pipelines that rebuild on schedule and alert someone when they break. Permissions for every role. An owner. Evals on the AI outputs. Change management for the 40 people who didn’t attend.
| Bootcamp prototype | Production workflow |
|---|---|
| One or two hand-picked data sources | Every source the decision really depends on |
| Data loaded once for the session | Pipelines with health checks and schedules |
| A few attendees as users | Every role, with permissions tested |
| AI outputs reviewed by eye | Evals and monitoring on AI outputs |
| Palantir engineers in the room | Your team or a partner owning it |
That gap isn’t a flaw. It’s just the honest distance between a working idea and a working operation, and it usually takes weeks to months to close, depending on how many systems the decision touches. Our Foundry implementation guide walks through those phases.

Does an AIP Bootcamp Cost Anything, and What Happens After?
We haven’t seen a published price for AIP Bootcamps, so confirm cost and scope with Palantir or the partner running yours. The real cost question comes afterward, when the bootcamp turns into a Foundry and AIP contract priced on usage.
Expect a commercial conversation quickly. Palantir has been open that bootcamps are a sales motion, and its executives have described deals signed days after a session. That’s not a bad thing. Just go in knowing it.
Before you sign, get clear answers to three questions. What’s in scope for the first contract? How will compute and AIP usage be billed as more users come on? And who builds the next three use cases, Palantir, a partner, or your own team? Our breakdown of Palantir Foundry pricing explains how compute seconds and usage work.
Is an AIP Bootcamp Right for Your Company?
It’s a strong fit if you have a costly, repeated decision, reachable data, and a sponsor ready to act. It’s a weak fit if you’re still exploring AI in general, your data access takes months to approve, or nobody owns the outcome.
Good fit.
- Operations, supply chain, or claims teams making the same high-stakes call dozens of times a day
- Companies that already have a few key systems they can connect quickly
- Leaders willing to decide on next steps within a week or two
Poor fit.
- Teams looking for a general AI education day. AIPCon or the Developer Tier are cheaper ways to learn
- Organizations where a new data connection needs a three-month security review. Fix that first
- Situations where no one will own the prototype after Friday
Is a bootcamp better than a pilot? For most commercial teams, yes. Faster, more hands-on, and grounded in real data. Just don’t confuse a fast start with a finished job.
Treat the Bootcamp as Day One, Not the Finish Line
Three things to remember. A bootcamp is 1 to 5 days of building on your own data, and it’s also Palantir’s sales motion, so go in clear-eyed. Preparation decides the outcome, especially one sharp decision, early data access, and the right people in the room. And the prototype is a starting point that still needs pipelines, permissions, evals, and an owner.
PAL4C Labs is an independent, Palantir-exclusive consultancy. We don’t run official bootcamps and we’re not affiliated with Palantir. We help teams prepare for them, and we build the Ontology, pipelines, and AIP agents that turn a bootcamp prototype into a workflow people use every day.
Got a bootcamp on the calendar, or one that already happened and stalled? Send us the decision you’re targeting. We’ll run through the prep checklist with you, or map what it takes to get your prototype into production through our Foundry and AIP implementation team.
What Teams Ask Before an AIP Bootcamp
Realistically, How Long Is a Palantir AIP Bootcamp?
One to five days in most cases. Palantir described them that way when it launched the motion in 2023, and executives have mentioned sessions as short as a single day. The length usually depends on how many data sources and use cases are in scope.
Do We Have to Bring Our Own Data?
That’s the point of it. Bootcamps run on your real data, connected for the session, which is why access approvals should start well before day one.
Who From Our Team Should Be in the Room?
A business sponsor, a few people who make the target decision every day, a data owner who can approve access, and one or two technical builders. Six to eight people works well.
Is a Bootcamp Free?
Not something we can confirm. We haven’t seen a published price, so ask Palantir or the partner running it what’s included and what isn’t. The bigger cost decision is the Foundry and AIP contract that usually follows.
Bootcamp vs Pilot, Which Gets Better Results?
For most commercial teams, the bootcamp. It’s days instead of months, runs on real data, and puts your own people on the keyboard. Pilots still make sense when procurement rules require a formal evaluation period.
What Happens After the Bootcamp Ends?
Usually a commercial proposal, then the real work. Connecting the remaining data sources, building reliable pipelines, setting permissions for every role, adding evals to AI outputs, and naming an owner. That’s where an implementation team, internal or external, picks it up.
Can We Practice Before the Bootcamp?
Sign up for the free AIP Developer Tier and have your builders learn the Ontology, AIP Logic, and Workshop basics first. Even a few hours of practice means less time spent on orientation and more on building.
